Jesus, the only Savior of humanity
Luke 2:10-11. But the angel said to them, "Do
not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that
will be for all the people: for today in the city of David a Savior
has been born for you, who is Christ the Lord."
According
to the Gospel of Luke, Jesus was born in Bethlehem in modest circumstances.
Mary and Joseph, having found no room in an inn, had to take shelter
in a stable, and Jesus was laid in a manger. This scene illustrates
the humility of God, Who chooses to come among men not in grandeur,
but in simplicity. It reminds us that salvation is not reserved for
the powerful, but is offered to all, especially to the most humble
who recognize their spiritual poverty. The kingdom of God belongs
to those who are poor in spirit (Matthew 5:3).
The first to receive the announcement of Jesus' birth are shepherds,
marginal figures in the society of the time. The angels say to them,
"I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all
the people: today a Savior has been born to you, who is Christ the
Lord. " (Luke 2:10-11) Their inclusion in this event shows
that the light of Jesus is accessible to all, regardless of their
status or social condition.
The birth of Jesus marks the beginning of a spiritual renewal for
humanity. It reminds us that God never abandons His people and that
He intervenes in history to bring salvation because all have sinned
and are separated from God and therefore deprived of the glory of
God. Sin, which is the transgression of God's law, destroys men and
their relationship with their Creator. Anyone who lives in sin is
separated from God and is spiritually dead, living in darkness. To
save humanity from this darkness, the God Who created all things took
on human form and came into the world. He never sinned but took our
sins upon Himself on the cross at Calvary, died, and was buried. He
rose again on the third day and lives eternally. Anyone who believes
in Him will not perish but will inherit eternal life.
To be saved from sin and enter the kingdom of God, we must believe
and obey the Word of God, which asks us to repent, that is, to turn
away from our sins, be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of our sins, and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
