Never compromise truth

A compromise is an agreement on the basis of mutual concessions; and they are frequently made in the sphere of politics, business life, and also in religion and in many other areas of our lives. In our society, tolerance is considered as being a type of a virtue and to show intolerance is frowned upon. Already from the beginning, the Bible does not demonstrate any tolerance whatsoever when it comes down to questions dealing with the faith, and neither do true Christians; for they know that God’s Word is the truth and is definitive. If a person does not have any truth, then a compromise is neither a loss or a gain; considering that he has nothing to lose because he did not have anything to begin with in the first place. However, for a believer to comply to making a compromise would be fatal.

Jesus claimed: I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. (John 8:24). He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (Mark 16:16). Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, ... (Matthew 28:19). That is the way it is throughout the entire Word of God. All these nations with their religions need the Gospel, for religion is from man and is full of compromises, but truth alone comes from God. There is no way of receiving salvation other than in Jesus Christ.

Daniel also did not make any compromises when he chose not to make himself unclean with the food and wine at the palace of the king. Neither did he give in later on, when King Darius made a decree that for 30 days no-one should pray to God (see Daniel 1 and 6). Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in like manner did not bow their knees before the golden image (Daniel 3). If you read and study about the lives of the men of God in the Bible, you come to the same conclusion each time, this being that they never made compromises with the Word of God. Also, the apostles and the church in the New Testament proclaimed the Word of God without any fear, and nothing and no-one could stop them.

When Paul showed more truth to the disciples in Ephesus who had been taught by Apollos, in Acts 19, they willingly accepted it and were baptized in the name of Jesus. They also did not tolerate any form of compromise in their lives, which they could have done if they had stuck adamantly to an unbiblical viewpoint. Paul laid hands upon them and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. If we go forwards in faith, God fulfills His promises.

It does not matter so much if you make compromises in daily life; however, when it comes to the Word of God, then compromises should never be made, no matter what price you might have to end up paying. God is sovereign and never makes a mistake, His Word is firmly established. Nevertheless, your prayer and faith can change situations and circumstances, for God is merciful; however, this of course has nothing to do with compromises being made as a result.
