Gehazi - The story didn’t end there

Ecclesiastes 7:8a The end of a thing is better than its beginning.

Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.

In August 2020 the message "The Reward Of The Wicked" was about Gehazi and his greed and lie. He took the gift that Naaman had offered the prophet Elisha to express his thankfulness after his miraculous healing. As a result of that ungodly act, Gehazi was plagued with leprosy. Thank God the story didn’t end there. A couple of chapters later in 2 Kings 8:1-6 we read from Gehazi again.

Even when Gehazi had failed God and the prophet Elisha, in this chapter we find him with the king to testify of the miracles God had performed through the prophet Elisha. In 2 Kings 8:5 we read: And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.

God synchronized these circumstances in a unique way: the Shunamite woman appeared with her son before the king at the exact moment when Gehazi was telling him about the miracle that had been performed through the prophet Elisha, as he brought the dead boy back to life. Thank God, even though Gehazi had failed God, God had not forsaken him. Somewhere Gehazi repented and the Lord used him again. We can look back to the cross and receive the very same grace, when we repent of our sins. Jesus had not given up on Gehazi and He has not given up on us. He is the God of 2nd, 3rd and more chances. Thank You Jesus for Your mercy, grace and longsuffering.
