Greed – an ugly thief

Luke 12:15 Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Throughout the Bible we see greed hurting people and keeping them from godliness. Greed takes our hearts away from God and puts our eyes, thoughts, and desires on the object of the greed. If we are greedy for money, we will think more about money and how to get it than we will think about God. Greed makes you lose sight of the things of value and of things that truly matter.

We can replace greed with confidence that God has a plan for our lives and will provide for us. Right now, identify the object of your greed. Realize how worthless it’s going to be when you’re with God. The object of your greed will eventually burn. No matter how great it is, it’s not worth taking your eyes off God. jk
